At a dose of 250 mg, Clovinol has been studied for its ability to support antioxidant defenses and acetaldehyde metabolism after alcohol consumption. In an 84-day study, Clovinol increased plasma GSH by 55.23% from baseline, versus 9.15% with synthetic glutathione, and significantly increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity by approximately 56% and 49%, respectively, relative to the synthetic glutathione group.(1)
In a separate randomized crossover study of 16 male social drinkers, Clovinol resulted in approximately 2.5x lower blood acetaldehyde levels, reflecting an average 65.1% reduction versus placebo, with faster elimination from the blood. Clovinol also significantly reduced oxidative stress, inflammatory markers, and lipid peroxidation following the alcohol challenge.(2) Additionally, Clovinol inhibited alcohol-related depletion of GSH by 34.5% and SOD by 92.5% compared with placebo.(2)
In a 30-day study, Clovinol supplementation at 250 mg daily significantly reduced mean postprandial blood glucose by 13.29 mg/dL in participants with baseline glucose already within the normal range and by 16.67 mg/dL in participants with prediabetes by Day 12. By the study’s end, postprandial glucose had decreased by 21.5% and 27.2% in the respective groups.(3)In the prediabetic group, mean postprandial glucose declined from 148.3 ± 11.88 mg/dL to 108 ± 3.86 mg/dL, bringing the group average within the normal postprandial range.
Furthermore, in adults with metabolic syndrome, daily Clovinol supplementation over 84 days increased insulin levels by 37.53% from baseline, compared with a decrease of 3.01% from baseline in the synthetic glutathione (s-GSH) group. At Day 84, insulin levels were 43.52% higher with Clovinol than with s-GSH.(1) HbA1c levels also decreased significantly from 6.91 ± 0.22% to 5.28 ± 0.19%, demonstrating improved long-term glucose management.(1)
Over 84 days, Clovinol supplementation at a low daily dose of 250 mg significantly improved lipid profile markers from baseline and relative to synthetic glutathione (s-GSH) in adults with metabolic syndrome.(1) Those taking Clovinol experienced reductions of 23.1% in total cholesterol, 23.5% in triglycerides, and 27.6% in LDL cholesterol, while HDL cholesterol increased by 15.4% from baseline.(1)
